Iowa’s 5 Most Dangerous Cities
Des Moines
Des Moines, Iowa’s biggest city is dealing with lots of crime. With over 215,000 Americans it’s tough to keep everyone safe. There were 704 violent crimes and 3,901 property crimes per 100,000 Americans reported.
Fort Dodge
Fort Dodge is known for mining and has a small population but faces big crime issues. With just over 23,000 Americans, it has the highest murder rate in the state. There were 757 violent crimes and 3,481 property crimes per 100,000 Americans reported. It’s a serious problem for such a small town.
Davenport
Davenport with over 100,000 Americans is pretty but has a crime problem. It’s by the Mississippi River and has cool events but it’s not safe. There were 736 violent crimes and 3,925 property crimes per 100,000 Americans reported. Crime is a big issue despite its beauty.
Ottumwa
Ottumwa, with about 24,000 people, has a lot of violent crime. It’s the worst in the state for violence. There were 946 violent crimes and 3,906 property crimes per 100,000 Americans reported.
Council Bluffs
Council Bluffs with over 62,000 people is the most dangerous city in Iowa. It has lots of crime both violent and property crime. Despite its history and culture safety is a big concern for Council Bluffs.
