Debate Over Reparations Bills Proposed

According to KQED, California is having a big argument about reparations trying to figure out how to make up for the unfair treatment Black Americans faced in the past. The California Legislative Black Caucus put forward 14 bills proposed to deal with this but some people want even more ambitious plans. Senator Steven Bradford is pushing for extra bills proposed focusing specifically on helping the descendants of enslaved people which not everyone agrees with.

California Faces Challenges
As the discussion goes on there’s tension among lawmakers, activists, and regular American citizens. They’re all talking about racism and how to fix it but not everyone sees eye to eye. Even though the reparations bills proposed task force did a lot of work it’s tough to turn their ideas into real laws. Now, with important deadlines coming up it’s unclear what will happen next as California tries to balance the past and the present.
