According to El Paso Times, Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has finalized the acquisition of over 1,000 acres of city-owned land in Northeast El Paso land for a significant data center project. The purchase, facilitated through a subsidiary established for this purpose, was completed three and a half months ahead of the contract deadline. While the deal was approved by the El Paso City Council in December, its completion was not publicly announced by city officials. Meta’s plans for the vacant El Paso land site have yet to be officially disclosed, but the land acquisition represents a crucial step towards advancing the proposed project.
