Child Protection Intervention: American Boys Removed Amidst Abuse Concerns
According to NBC NEWS four workers from Atlantis Leadership Academy a school in Jamaica for troubled teenagers were caught and charged with hurting children after an investigation. Jamaica’s Child Protection and Family Services Agency took away eight American boys aged 14 to 18, from the school in February when they heard about possible abuse during a surprise check. The workers aged 30 to 51 are accused of hurting the boys and are now in trouble with the law.

Calls for Reform: Advocates Push for Change in Teen Treatment Facilities
People are worried about how kids are treated in places like this school. Randall Cook who runs the school says they didn’t do anything wrong. But the boys’ lawyers say the kids were hurt by the staff. Famous people like Paris Hilton are talking about this saying we need to change how we look after troubled teens. The boys still in Jamaica are waiting to see what happens next. Their bad experiences are making people think we need to do better at keeping kids safe not just in Jamaica but everywhere.
