Farmers Save Over $6.75 Million in Agricultural Tax Credit Through CAUV Program, with 84 New Properties Joining in 2023
According to STAR BEACON, in Ashtabula County, more farmers joined the agricultural tax credit CAUV program, which helps them save money on taxes. In 2023, they saved about $6.75 million a bit more than the previous year. Also, 84 new properties joined the program showing that more people are learning about it.

CAUV program lowers agricultural tax credit for farmers based on land use and soil type. Despite property value rise in 2024, it still saved farmers money. Auditor David Thomas and team promoted it well, leading to more sign-ups. Heather Hall involved with CAUV praised Thomas’s efforts. Though applications closed until 2025, inquiries welcomed. Thomas highlights program’s aid for farmers, even with higher property values.
