A recent study by RoadSnacks found that Forest Park and Morrow are not popular suburbs around Atlanta. They have been criticized for not being great places to live. While Atlanta has its own problems people are now looking at nearby towns and cities for a better quality of life. Among the 53 suburbs studied these ten areas are getting attention for not being as good as Atlanta. Avondale Estates is trying to improve but others are having a hard time. People prefer calm suburbs so these struggling areas need help from the community to get better.
10 Atlanta Suburban Spotlight
Forest Park
With a population of nearly 20,000, suffers from low median income ($41,837) and high unemployment (8.9%), making it one of the worst places to live near Atlanta due to financial struggles and limited amenities.
Morrow
Home to around 6,500 residents faces economic challenges with a median income of $64,890 and a high unemployment rate of 11.1% despite its proximity to Atlanta and abundance of fast-food options.
Jonesboro
With its low median income ($33,621) and high unemployment rate (6.2%), offers affordable living but limited entertainment and work options for its 4,415 residents.
Lithonia
Housing about 2,600 residents grapples with financial hardship as the fourth lowest suburb for median household incomes and sixth highest for unemployment rates in Atlanta with a median home value of $265,761.
College Park
Housing over 14,000 residents faces economic challenges with a median income of $47,706, an unemployment rate of 13.0%, and the 13th lowest home values highlighting financial strain for its inhabitants.
Palmetto
With around 4,650 residents struggles economically with low median income ($52,444), high unemployment (6.9%), and a significant poverty rate.
Conyers
Home to approximately 17,400 residents, contends with economic adversity with a median income of $53,500 and an unemployment rate of 10.5%, despite relatively affordable housing.
Clarkston
With a population of 14,553, faces economic hardship with a median income of $51,122 an unemployment rate of 8.6%, and a significant uninsured population.
Union City
Housing about 26,900 residents grapples with economic challenges including a median income of $46,696 and an unemployment rate of 4.6%, despite relatively affordable housing.
East Point
With over 38,000 residents confronts economic struggles with a median income of $59,60 an unemployment rate of 7.1%, and high poverty rates despite relatively affordable housing.
