Tax Credit Incentives Aim to Boost Child Care Affordability and Support Working Families in Missouri

Efforts are underway to make it easier for families to find child care in Missouri. A new  House Bill 1488 just got approval from the Senate Government Accountability Committee, according to the published article of Lincoln News. This bill offers tax credits to employers child care providers and families.

The bill lets individuals and companies get money back from their taxes if they pay for child care. They can get up to 75% of what they spend as a tax credit. For companies, they can get up to 30% of what they spend on their employees child care. This helps make child care more affordable for families and helps businesses support their workers. It’s a way to encourage more investment in child care.

Tax Credit Initiative Targets Child Care Deserts, Aiming to Expand Access Across Missouri

The bill aims to help areas where it’s hard to find child care called “child care deserts.” These are places where many families don’t have easy access to child care. By offering tax credits the hope is to encourage more child care providers to open up in these areas. With bipartisan support and backing from the governor there’s optimism that this bill could make a real difference for families across Missouri.
