According to News Max Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens is worried about possible dangers from migrants coming into the United States from the southern border. In an interview with CBS’s “Face the Nation,” he talked about how smugglers control the flow of migrants making it hard for authorities to stop them. He also mentioned the big number of times Border Patrol encounters migrants including around 140,000 who avoid getting counted officially making it tough to keep the border safety at stake.

But Owens is concerned that this could be used by bad people pretending to seek asylum to do harm. Biologist Bret Weinstein shared his experience from visiting the Darien Gap showing that migrants there aren’t all from Latin America some are Chinese and seem unfriendly during interviews. This adds to Chief Owens’ worries about the challenges of keeping the border safety. It shows that the situation is complicated with different types of migrants and potential risks that need to be managed carefully.
