Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Fatal Beating of Mother, Assault on Child
Tragic Incident Leaves Woman Dead, Child Injured: Perpetrator Sentenced to 30 Years
In a heartbreaking tale, 31-year-old Jose Escalante-Corchado was given a 30-year prison sentence. He was given a sentence for the injuries he caused to 24-year-old Mackenzie Hopkins and her 4-year-old daughter. Mackenzie was harmed by Escalante-Corchado and left to die in a bathtub. And he had horribly injured her daughter.
This occurred on January 15, 2022, when Mackenzie’s Kansas City home was the subject of a call to the police asking for updates. Mackenzie was discovered dead in the shower and her daughter injured in the bedroom. Blood was all over the place, indicating a serious altercation.

Perpetrator Identified Through Surveillance Footage and Witness Accounts; Motive Remains Unclear
The police found out that Escalante-Corchado was involved through security camera footage and by talking to people who knew Mackenzie. They saw him running away from the house and later admitted he was there. Now, he’s been punished for what he did, but it’s still not clear why he did such a terrible thing.
