Eight FCI Dublin employees have been charged with sexually abusing inmates since 2021, the rampant case needs to be investigated thoroughly so the Judge appointed Special Master to do it.
This is the first time the federal Bureau of Prisons has been subject to oversight by Special Master
An investigation since 2021 found that abuses and cover-ups at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin for women brought increased scrutiny from Congress and the Bureau of Prisons. The low-security prison located about 21 miles east of Oakland, has more than 600 inmates.
District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers called the prison a mess during her court order. She did not name someone to be the special master but wrote that the court would appoint one hurriedly to solve the problem.
The order for Special Master is part of a federal lawsuit filed in August by eight female inmates and the advocacy group California Coalition for Women Prisoners. The female inmates alleged that sexual abuse and exploitation have not stopped despite the prosecution of the former warden and several former officers.
