Senate Increases Refunds and Tennessee Tax Cut to $1.95 Billion
According to AP News, the Tennessee Senate approved a big $2 billion Tennessee tax cut and refund deal for businesses to settle possible legal fights. The Tennessee tax cut came after a law firm representing many businesses questioned the fairness of Tennessee’s old franchise tax. Governor Bill Lee first suggested a $1.2 billion refund plan and later added $410 million in Tennessee tax cut but the Senate changed it to $1.56 billion in refunds and $393 million in Tennessee tax cut making it a total of $1.95 billion Tennessee tax cut.
