According to WCAX3, Senator Peter Welch introduced two bills to improve food stamps enhanced SNAP for people in Vermont. One bill lets people deduct student loan payments from their income for food stamps enhanced SNAP. The other bill doesn’t count extra Social Security money for seniors when deciding food stamp enhanced SNAP help. Welch says these bills will aid people, especially seniors and students during food price increases. Both Democrats and Republicans back the bills due to widespread food insecurity concerns.
