Unusual Committee Vote Stalls Teen Work Hours and Cutting SNAP Benefits
According to Yahoo News, Two Republican-sponsored bills in Kentucky got rejected in committee which is pretty rare. One bill House Bill 255 wanted to make it easier for teens to work more hours during school weeks but didn’t get enough votes to move forward. Another bill House Bill 367 aimed to change the cutting SNAP benefits but faced the same fate. This shows that not all Republicans agreed on these issues which is unusual because they usually stick together.

Kentucky’s Committee Considers Revisiting Amidst Concerns Over Cutting SNAP Benefits and Financial Impact
But these bills might not be totally dead. The committee chairman hinted they might reconsider them in a special meeting. Only House Bill 255 is up for another look so far. Even though some changes were made to the bills Americans still worry about how they might affect things like cutting SNAP benefits. Some Republicans like Sen. Jason Howell think one of the bills could make it harder for Americans to improve their lives financially. So it’s still unclear what will happen to these bills as the debate goes on.
