According to Director Christopher A. Wray, the FBI is watchful of at least one migrant smuggling operation with ties to the Islamic State terrorist organization.

Director Christopher A. Wray said he couldn’t go into details about the migrant smuggling in the public hearing with the Senators concerned the intelligence but added that the FBI is very concerned about the network and has devoted effort to trying to figure out what the best to do.
FBI Director added that there are no specific known terrorist plots involving migrant smuggling in the border, but he said it’s like a conspiracy theory, and pointed to the case of Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab, an Iraqi man who was trying to sneak an ISIS hit squad into the country to kill former President George W. Bush.
FBI Director’s comments last Monday are drawing new attention because of the possible migrant smuggling connected to ISIS.

It only takes a few people connected to migrant smuggling who can be responsible for a whole lot of harm
Mr. Wray’s appearance is part of a global threats hearing, testifying alongside officials from the State Department and the major intelligence agencies.
Mr. Wray said he couldn’t speak to that specific gang involving migrant smuggling, but said people who were criminals in their own countries are making their way into the United States.
