A 15-year-old boy was taken into police custody last week several months after he was involved in a shooting in Washington DC allegedly killed a ride-share driver who previously worked as an interpreter for the Special Forces of the country in Afghanistan.

A Lyft driver who formerly worked as an interpreter for U.S. Special Forces killed in a Shooting in Washington DC
Nasrat Ahmad Yar, 31, was found shot inside his car just after midnight on Monday, July 3, 2023. Washington Metropolitan Police was informed of a Shooting in Washington DC, arrived at the scene on the 400 block of 11th St. Northeast, and transported Yar to the nearest hospital, where he was declared dead from his injuries.
On Friday, March 1, Washington Metropolitan Police announced the arrest of the teen who was the suspect of the Shooting in Washington DC and brought to police custody on a charge of first-degree murder while armed.
Ahmad Yar, the victim of the Shooting in Washington DC had dropped off a passenger and was sitting in his car when the young suspects approached the victim. Investigators believe the suspects could have been trying to carjack the victim, and during the incident, one of the suspects fired his gun.
Police are continuing to search for the other suspects in the Shooting in Washington DC last July
The victim worked as an interpreter for the Special Forces of the country in his native country of Afghanistan for about one decade. The victim and his family moved to the United States after the military pulled out of Afghanistan in 2021.
According to the Police, the reckless actions of these teens cost a man’s life and shattered a family just starting on their journey in the U.S.
