According to Roll Call, President Biden wants to give more money to the Capitol Police next year. They’re the ones who protect important people in Washington. Right now they say they don’t have enough money to do their job properly. The President’s plan would give them $901 million, which is a lot more than what they have now.

Capitol Police Address Increased Threats, Seek Funding Boost for Enhanced Security

The Capitol Police faced a surge in threats against politicians in 2023, handling over 8,000 cases a rise from the previous year. Since the 2021 Capitol attack, they’ve recognized the need for more support. President Biden aims to allocate extra funds for hiring and resources to enhance safety. However, Congress must agree before the money can be distributed with discussions ongoing ahead of a March deadline.
