Bipartisan Bill Targets App’s Chinese Ties, Citing National Security Concerns
President Biden has said he’d back a ban on TikTok App if a new bipartisan bill is approved by the House and Senate. The bill known as the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, wants the Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell off all of TikTok’s apps within six months or else face a ban. The lawmakers argue that ByteDance’s connection to the Chinese Communist Party could threaten U.S. national security and users’ privacy.
