Republican Pushback Against Guaranteed Income Programs Grows Across Multiple States
Republicans Pushing Back Against Guaranteed Income Programs
The Center Square – In December 2021, the Phoenix City Council said yes to a test plan for helping 1,000 families who have less money. Each month, these families would get $1,000 from taxes. This plan is like others in the country and many get money from a big fund the government made for helping during emergencies.
Now, some people from the Republican group do not like these plans. They made a new rule in Arizona to stop plans like this one. Other states like Iowa and South Dakota are thinking about doing the same thing. They say these plans are too much like socialism where everyone gets the same money even if they do not work.
