San Diego Flood Victims Can Apply for CalFresh Food Benefits
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Starting Thursday, March 7, folks affected by floods in San Diego can seek food benefits from CalFresh, a state program aiding low income families with nutritious food. These individuals can apply for a one time payment by filling out a CF 385 form. This payment aims to help them buy food for their families if they lived or worked in the disaster areas during the Jan. 22 floods. There are various ways for flood victims to apply for food benefits, as stated on the CalFresh website. They can submit the CF 385 form online at benefitscal.com, call Access at 866-262-9881 visit a local Family Resource Center, or head to one of the two FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers. The payment amount depends on household size and monthly income with no set limit.

Struggling Flood Victims Face Challenges Accessing CalFresh Food Benefits
However, not everyone may qualify for this food benefits assistance. Amanda Haley from Spring Valley, whose home flooded twice in four months shared her struggle. Despite facing hardships as a single mom, she doesn’t qualify for typical CalFresh benefits due to her income. Unfortunately, she won’t qualify for the disaster specific benefits either. Flood victims have until Friday, March 15, to apply and once approved by the county, they will receive their CalFresh food benefits aid on an EBT card.
