USDA’s Farm and Food Workers Relief Program: Not Limited to Migrant Workers, Explains Benjamin Wynn

According to Hi-Line Today, the USDA is currently present in Havre as part of its Farm and Food Workers Relief program which aims to assist field and livestock workers. They are conducting surveys to determine the eligibility of individuals for one time payments of $600. Benjamin Wynn from Centro De Familia the organization facilitating the distribution of these payments was interviewed by New Media Broadcasters to provide insights into the program.

According to Wynn, the Farm and Food Workers Relief Program was initiated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) during the COVID-19 pandemic to offer financial assistance to farm workers. The program entails a one time payment of $600 and contrary to common belief and it is not limited to migrant workers. Eligibility requirements include providing proof of identification and evidence of employment and with a minimum of one hour worked during the pandemic period.

Centro De Familia’s Benjamin Wynn Clarifies Eligibility Criteria for USDA’s COVID-19 Assistance Program

The primary goal of the program is to provide assistance to farm and food workers who have been impacted by the economic difficulties resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. By offering one time payments, the USDA intends to relieve some of the financial strains experienced by individuals working in agriculture. Wynn emphasized that the program is open to all eligible workers and irrespective of whether they are migrant workers or not, highlighting the significance of providing documentation such as proof of identification and employment records.
