Community Relieved as Abductor Pleads Guilty in Moreau Lake State Park Kidnapping Incident
The nightmare unfolded on the evening of September 30 when the 9-year-old girl disappeared from Moreau Lake State Park during a solo bike ride. Despite the parents’ immediate concern and swift action by New York State Police the search intensified. A breakthrough occurred on October 2 when a ransom note was discovered in the victim’s mailbox. Fingerprints on the letter led investigators to identify Ross who was previously charged with DWI in 1999. A tactical entry into Ross’s camper located behind his mother’s residence resulted in his arrest and the rescue of the young victim found hidden inside a cabinet. Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen expressed relief in her statement stating that with Ross’s guilty plea the community’s questions regarding the kidnapping have been answered.
