Utah Stands Up Against Organ Harvesting in China
S.B. 262 Passes, Targeting Forced Organ Harvesting in China
Acccording to NTD, Utah as the state government just passed a law (S.B. 262) to tackle a really bad thing happening in China – forced organ harvesting. This makes Utah the second U.S. state to do something about it following Texas. The new law stops health insurers from paying for organ transplants or aftercare in China because of the risk of abuse by the Chinese government. The bill got a big thumbs up with a 70-0 vote in the House and now just needs the governor’s approval to become law.

Representative Pierucci Advocates for Utah’s Anti-Forced Organ Harvesting Initiative
Representative Candice Pierucci who’s supporting the bill says it’s like a “nightmare” for people and Utah wants to be a leader in stopping it. The idea is to hit them where it hurts – the money – by not letting our state’s money support this bad practice. Other states like Arizona and Idaho are also thinking about doing similar things. It all started after a London tribunal in 2019 said China was killing prisoners of conscience like Falun Gong followers. This new law in Utah is a step toward saying, “No more support for this awful stuff!”
