The bill, passed on a 55-43 vote would prohibit local governments from implementing such initiatives with Republican lawmakers labeling them as “socialism on steroids” and undermining the work ethic. Democrats argue the bill hampers local solutions to poverty and undermines UpLift’s ability to collect valuable data as it faces an early termination date.
