Senate Approves Senate Bill to Extend SNAP Work Requirements

The new rule would make the age limit 59 in West Virginia. The person leading this Senate Bill, State Senator Rollan Roberts says it’s a plan to help people gradually stop relying on SNAP. Kelly Allen who works for a group that studies budgets and policies thinks it’s not a good idea. Kelly Allen says it doesn’t help the goal of getting more people into jobs because it focuses on older people who are close to retiring. The Senate voted strongly in favor of the Senate Bill, 32-2.
