Deputy Leonard’s Mysterious Disappearance
Community Shocked by Tragic Loss
In rural Tennessee, Deputy Robert “R.J.” Leonard vanished while driving a woman he arrested to jail according to True Crime Daily. He responded to a problem, made his first arrest then had trouble talking to dispatch. He mentioned “water” and texted his wife “Arrest” before going silent. His patrol car was found in a river with Leonard’s body nearby and the woman he arrested dead in the back seat. Investigators think it might have been an accident. Deputy Leonard had only worked at the sheriff’s office for about two months. His sudden and sad death surprised the community and police.

Launching an Inquiry into Deputy Leonard’s Tragic End
Finding Deputy Leonard and the woman in his car started an investigation. The car was upside down in the river with Leonard’s body close by. Even though the window was open and the inside was muddy. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office helped find Leonard’s body and is working with local police to find out what happened.
