In collaboration with Inland SoCal United Way, this $10 million pilot project is set to distribute monthly payments, targeting specific categories of recipients.

Innovative Guaranteed Basic Income Program Supports Pregnant Women and Former Foster Youth in Riverside County

This groundbreaking Guaranteed Basic Income Program focuses on assisting 500 pregnant women in their initial six months of pregnancy, extending monthly payments of $600. Additionally, 120 former foster youth are slated to receive $750 each month. What makes this program unique is its unrestricted approach – recipients have the liberty to utilize the cash as they deem fit, devoid of any constraints.

Zachary Ginder, Chair of the First 5 Riverside County Commission, emphasizes the importance of supporting parents from the early stages of pregnancy. He underscores the program’s focus on an evidenced and innovative approach, seeking to bring about meaningful change in the lives of Riverside County children and families.

Eligibility criteria for this assistance include being at least 18 years old and having a maximum household income below $90,916. The pilot program covers residents in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, and referrals are accepted through a Guaranteed Income (GI) partner agency. Interested individuals can contact the GI program team for referrals.

While this Guaranteed Basic Income Program is a significant stride in supporting vulnerable populations, it’s essential to note that other regions may have similar programs. In New York, expectant mothers can also sign up for a $750 monthly cash assistance program. Furthermore, residents across an entire state are set to receive $1,312. For those who may not qualify for these specific programs, there are other opportunities, such as tax credits from the IRS based on family size, and potential checks from a $100 million Verizon settlement.

In essence, these programs aim to provide financial support to those in need, offering a lifeline through monthly cash assistance to alleviate economic challenges faced by various communities across the United States.
