According to Medical Express, New York City is helping residents by pledging to erase $2 billion in medical debt. They got the concept from Cook County, Illinois, which erased medical debt with money. RIP Medical Debt’s unique approach is helping many people with medical expenses.

NYC follows Cook County’s lead

Cook County in Illinois was the first to attempt this new medical debt solution in 2022. Other cities including Akron, Cleveland, Toledo, New Orleans, Wayne County, and Washington, D.C., are following suit. New York City joined lately. A wonderful concept is spreading, offering more individuals who need medical bill aid hope.

Eliminating billions of medical debt in New York

New York City’s medical debt elimination plan is an excellent start that’s motivating others. Still, $195 billion in medical debt plagues the nation! Eliminating some debt helps but we need greater measures to solve the core causes of medical care’s high cost.
