U.S. Marshals successfully captured 17-year-old murder suspect Shane Pryor, who had escaped from custody, following a five-day manhunt in Philadelphia. Pryor, accused of a 2020 shooting, had prompted a massive search after his escape from the hospital.

17-year-old murder suspect Shane Pryor, who escaped from custody, is captured by U.S. Marshals after a daring manhunt in Philadelphia

An internationally-noticed manhunt in Philadelphia has been updated. The Philadelphia Police Department reported on Sunday that the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 17-year-old murder suspect Shane Pryor, who escaped a hospital on Wednesday. The 2020 deadly shooting suspect, a teenager, was captured after several days on the run.

Shane Pryor escaped the Pennsylvania Hospital Juvenile Justice Services Center on Wednesday. After being taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for a hand injury, the suspect exited the emergency room parking lot before noon, according to Deputy Commissioner of Investigations Frank Vanore. Pryor could flee on foot from police.

Shane Pryor was charged with shooting Holmesburg resident Tanya Harris in October 2020. Pryor was 14 when he was shot in an alleyway. Pryor became a dangerous criminal in December 2023 when the courts tried him as an adult.

After Pryor escaped, authorities arrested 18-year-old Michael Diggs, his suspected accomplice. Diggs, Pryor’s believed getaway driver, was arrested hours later.

He now faces felony charges for obstructing apprehension, escape, use of a communication facility, and criminal conspiracy in connection with Pryor’s escape.
