According to Yahoo News, in 2023, the criminal and civil cases that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Fresno, which is led by U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert brought in a strange $169 million. This made news. People on the team were given cases to handle for the DOJ in the Eastern District of California. They did a great job of fighting for justice and helped raise a lot of money—much more than the previous year’s collections.

There were a lot of big deals that helped the U.S. Attorney’s Office breaks records for success. One of the big cash wins was a record $117 million deal with Pacific Gas & Electric for damage from wildfires. A doctor in Los Angeles, Clinica Sierra Vista, Lags Spine & Sportscare Medical Centers Inc., and Sierra Nevada Corporation all agreed to settle, which made it even bigger. There are a lot of different issues that these deals cover, from healthcare theft to false claims and unfair charges.
