Mission Details and Loss of SEALs

The identities of the fallen Navy SEALs, involved in the mission to board and confiscate weapons from an unflagged ship on January 11, remain undisclosed as family notifications are ongoing. General Erik Kurilla, head of US Central Command, expresses deep sorrow over the sacrifices of these Naval Special Warfare warriors and assures their legacy will be forever honored.

The mission, executed from the USS Lewis B Puller, targeted a vessel transporting illicit Iranian-made weapons to Houthi rebels in Yemen. Tragically, during the boarding, one SEAL succumbed to rough seas, prompting a brave colleague to attempt a rescue. The successful seizure included Iranian-made cruise and ballistic missile components, air defense parts, and other critical elements.

The tragic decision to sink the weapon-carrying ship due to safety concerns resulted in the detention of its 14 crew members. This incident underscores the immense sacrifices made by military personnel to secure global peace, particularly in countering threats posed by weapon shipments to rebels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
