The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) launched its Free File Program that will allow more Americans to file their taxes after the historic expansion of the agency in terms of income.

The tax season is fast approaching, and millions of Americans are expected to file their personal income tax. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) expects that more Americans will file after the agency decides to expand the eligibility of filers based on in their income.
In a published article on NASDAQ, anyone who earned less than $79,000 in 2023 can access the Free File Program through the partner companies of the IRS. This is the largest expansion in income in 22 years. The new income cap is $6,000 higher compared to last year.

Partner Companies of IRS
According to an article published in MONEY, the IRS is partnering with eight companies that will offer tax prep and e-filed returns to those eligible:

- 1040NOW
- ezTaxReturn.com
- FreeTaxUSA
- FileYourTaxes
- OnLine Taxes
- TaxAct
- TaxSlayer
Moreover, if your AGI is higher than $79,000 you cannot yet use the Free File Program listed above, but you will need to use the IRS’s fillable forms tool to complete your tax return.
