Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed into law the Child Tax Credit expansion in December 2023 which will send up to $2,100 to eligible residents in the state.
Child Tax Credit Expansion
The expansion of the Child Tax Credit in Pennsylvania, which was signed into law by Gov. Josh Shapiro in December 2023, will send an amount of between $1,050 and $2,100 to eligible residents in the state. It is estimated that there are around 210,000 families who will benefit from these new payments.
In a published article in The U.S. Sun, taxpayers must have care expenses for a dependent under the age of 13 or a spouse who was physically or mentally incapable of self-care and lived with the filer for more than half the year. Moreover, residents in the state can also accumulate the credit for an individual who was incapable of self-care and lived with you for more than half the year.

Josh Shapiro said, “We have a GSD attitude in my Administration – we get stuff done, and this expanded tax credit is a prime example of government working together to deliver real, tangible results for the people of Pennsylvania. We’re cutting costs and putting money back in people’s pockets.”
Furthermore, Pennsylvanians could see up to a 233% increase in their tax credit from last year. The maximum credit Pennsylvania families could receive was up to $315 (one child) or $630 (two or more children) before the new law was signed into law.
