The US Department of Energy is planning to install more electric vehicle charging stations that would benefit many Portlanders.
US Department of Energy Plans to Install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
According to Smart News, a federal grant from the US Department of Energy will be used in the plan to install more electric vehicle charging stations that would benefit many Portlanders who owns an electric vehicle (EV).
Portland City Council approved the intergovernmental agreement with the US Department of Energy on January 10, accepting over $1.7 million grant and agreeing to allocate $750,000 funds towards building the electric vehicle charging stations.

Portland Bureau of Transportation and US Department of Energy Aims to Fill Gaps in City’s Public Charging Stations
According to the Portland Mercury, the Portland Bureau of Transportation and the US Department of Energy’s project aims to fill the gaps in the city’s public charging stations and make more chargers accessible to many Portlanders.
It is also stated that while Portland does not lack publicly available electric vehicle charging stations. However, the charging stations are only located in the city center which makes it harder for low-income neighborhoods to go further from the river.
