UPLIFT Program in Harris County, Texas
Eligible and qualified low-income households in Harris County, Texas are set to receive an amount of $500 for 18 months. This is a new guaranteed basic income program under the UPLIFT program that aims to improve the financial and health outcomes of the participants.
In a published article in The U.S. Sun, the UPLIFT program in Harris County is funded by $20.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. It is estimated that around 1,928 low-income households will be selected from this program.

How to Qualify and Claim the Cash?
According to a published article in Newsweek, low-income households and residents will qualify if they meet the folowing criteria:
- Must be 18 or older
- Have an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
They must live in one of 10 targeted ZIP codes in the country, which have the lowest income levels in the county. Furthermore, only one member per household will qualify in the program to ensure that everyone is given equal opportunity to participate in the UPLIFT program.
Those who will qualify will receive their $500 monthly payments for 18 months through bank transfer or a prepaid debit card to accommodate those who don’t have bank accounts.
