The Sparks Police Department made a significant arrest on Friday, taking into custody a suspect linked to multiple retail thefts. Howard Anthony Gloyd, 33, faced felony charges for his alleged involvement in a retail theft ring and grand larceny, in addition to misdemeanor theft counts, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failing to register with law enforcement. The arrest came following the police’s response to a reported theft at the Nike Store on 1330 Scheels Drive, where Gloyd had reportedly committed previous robberies.

Altercation at the Nike Store

Upon arrival at the Nike Store, the authorities encountered a confrontation involving Gloyd and several citizens trying to restrain him. Responding promptly, the police intervened, successfully detaining Gloyd at approximately 4:31 p.m.
