According to the PRVDA report, the United States is changing its plan for helping Ukraine against Russia. Instead of focusing on Ukraine winning the war, the new idea is to make Ukraine stronger for possible talks to end the big fight. They want to do this by making Ukraine better defended with things like improved air defenses and building obstacles along its northern border. At the same time, the U.S. is working to restart Ukraine’s own defense industry to provide the weapons it needs, which is something the U.S. Congress is currently hesitant about.

Even though the U.S. is talking about a more defensive plan, they want to make it clear that they are not telling Ukraine to stop getting ready for future attacks. European leaders are also making statements about Ukraine joining NATO faster, hoping this will help Ukraine negotiate better with Russia. The reasons behind this change in strategy seem to be linked to problems in both the U.S. and Ukraine, such as a drop in President Biden’s popularity and resistance within Ukraine. Additionally, Russian President Putin’s recent statement about ending the war when he achieves specific goals adds more complexity to the situation.
In a recent press conference, Putin said the war would only end when he reaches his goals, including making sure Ukraine is not seen as Nazi, reducing its military power, and making it neutral. This adds another layer to the ongoing diplomatic discussions.
