Hours after finishing second in season 10 of “The Masked Singer,” the actor posted the statement on the internet.

There are reports that the US president has taken notice of John Schneider.

Deadline reports that the Secret Service has launched an investigation into the 63-year-old Dukes of Hazzard star’s remarks that President Joe Biden ought to be “publicly hung” in a since-deleted response to a post on X, a website that was formerly known as Twitter.

The 81-year-old Biden claimed in a tweet that former President Donald Trump “poses many threats to our country.” This prompted the writing of the statement.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Schneider refuted claims that he had threatened the president. A screenshot of his since-deleted response, obtained by the outlet, read, “Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung. Your son, too. Your response is..? Sincerely, John Schneider.”

The post was made just hours after The Masked Singer’s season 10 finale on Wednesday, in which he finished in second place.

He talked to PEOPLE after his stint on the reality competition show about how it helped him deal with the loss of his wife, Alicia Allain, who passed away on February 21 at the age of 53 from breast cancer.

“What an amazing opportunity to be able to honor Alicia, to be able to honor people who are grieving, maybe educate people who are grieving a little bit, in front of millions of people. I’m a pretty strong guy, but I’m also a very emotional guy,” he stated to PEOPLE.

He disclosed that he chose to go on the show in accordance with the desires of his late wife and that his donut costume was another way he paid homage to her.

“Every Saturday, Alicia would go down to our local donut store, get me a bag of apple fritters, and I would eat one, only one, but donuts had been part of my life,” he stated to PEOPLE. “For a long time, they were part of Alicia’s and I’s marriage and relationship. So again, they said, ‘Donut,’ and I just had to look up at the sky and go, ‘Well, of course. This is you. It’s got to be you.'”

Schneider talks to PEOPLE about his time on “The Masked Singer,” describing it as the “greatest experience I’ve had doing music on television,” after placing second as Donut.

Note: There are spoilers from The Masked Singer’s season 10 finale in this post.

Despite an unbelievably tough year, John Schneider has managed to find some bright spots.

Schneider, dressed as the delicious Donut, placed second in The Masked Singer’s season 10 finale on Wednesday, behind R&B singer NE-YO.

Schneider says that his appearance on the popular Fox show coincided with the passing of his wife, Alicia, in February due to breast cancer.

“What an amazing opportunity to be able to honor Alicia, to be able to honor people who are grieving, maybe educate people who are grieving a little bit, in front of millions of people,” he told PEOPLE. “I’m a pretty strong guy, but I’m also a very emotional guy. Being out there on that stage dressed like a donut, singing some of the greatest songs ever written and having people respond to the songs and the performance with no notion that it was me really, really helped John Schneider.”

“It really helped me get through the worst year of my life, so I’m delighted to have done it,” he says.

Here, the 63-year-old Schneider speaks with PEOPLE about his role as Donut on The Masked Singer, his casting experience, and his belief that a higher power was involved in the costume and casting! as well as his post-show plans.

John Schneider: Alicia genuinely wanted me to do that particular show. I completely anticipated that one day Alicia would be there to assist since she would always tell me, “You have to do The Masked Singer.” So when that chance arose, I had to kind of laugh and look up toward heaven because, well, she still runs things, just from a distance. Subsequently, when they expressed their desire for you to be a Donut.

Every Saturday, Alicia would get me a bag of apple fritters from our neighborhood doughnut shop. Donuts had been a part of my life, and I would only eat one. They were a part of Alicia and my marriage and relationship for a long time. They said, “Donut,” once more, and I had to simply say, “Well, of course,” while glancing up at the sky. You are this. You have to be the one.

It caused me to smile. It gave me a smile when I hadn’t felt like smiling in a long time. These were excellent indicators—what we refer to as “God nods”—that doing this was, in fact, the correct course of action.

It was a wonderful chance to be able to let people know that it’s okay to grieve while simultaneously entertaining and having fun. It’s necessary for you to grieve. I also appreciated that the Donut grieving is genuinely supporting those who are traveling down the same path. I never wanted a job like this. I never really wanted to understand any of it. However, this is the hand I was dealt. And in honor of my stunning wife, I’m trying to make the most of it.
