Congressional Announcement

The news was shared by Maine’s four congressional representatives on Friday. They emphasized that the Army Inspector General was committed to looking into the shooter, Robert Card’s actions in a formal and fair way.

In his letter, Under Secretary Gabe Camarillo emphasized the Secretary of the Army’s order for an independent investigation to make sure that corrective actions are taken as needed. The Army Inspector General, Lt. Gen. Donna W. Martin, started making plans for the investigation right away after getting this order.

In a letter dated November 2, U.S. Senators Angus King and Susan Collins from Maine asked for an investigation. They followed up with another letter the week before. All four lawmakers stressed how important this review was as a first step toward understanding what happened before the terrible shootings.
