Penny Kay Clark was found four days after her automobile crashed 200 feet down a ravine. Police have praised a 72-year-old woman’s miraculous survival after her automobile crashed into a deep ravine in Idaho, leaving her stuck for days.
Penny Kay Clark Found Alive in Idaho Ravine After Four Days of Frantic Search
Penny Kay Clark disappeared without a trace on Dec. 5, and her family feared the worst. Four days later, at 11:40 a.m. on Dec. 9, two men on Map Rock Road and Rim Road in Melba found a wrecked 2021 Chevy Equinox 200 yards down a ravine, the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said. The pair called the police after seeing a missing person’s plea for Clark and her Chevy Equinox. A short time later, CCSO deputies arrived and used binoculars to find Clark 40 feet below the truck in a ravine. A frenzied multi-agency rescue was launched, and Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue reached Clark, who was conscious and alert, at 1 p.m. Given the rough and rocky terrain, CCSO and search and rescue teams stabilized her and carried her to Map Rock Road, where a helicopter and paramedics were waiting. Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue said Clark was taken to a hospital after two hours of rescue at Map Rock Road.
Donahue described the occurrence as “one of the most miraculous incidents she can recall in all his years in law enforcement,” and it is a true monument to Penny Clark’s courage and resilience. Medics on the scene believe she had been there for at least two days, most likely since Tuesday, when her family last spoke to her. It’s a miracle, and they hope she recovers completely. According to Time and Date, temperatures dropped to 24 degrees Fahrenheit the night before Clark was recovered. Police also complimented the agencies and the two guys who found her and determined it was likely related to the Nampa Police Department missing person appeal. “A true team effort,” Donahue added.
