The Economic Impact Payment under the American Bailout Plan Act of 2021 provides a $1,400 stimulus check to single filers and $2,800 to couples filing together.
$1,400 Stimulus Check
Americans across the country continue to face the negative impact of the global pandemic and the rising inflation rate. These led millions of American families to have difficulties coping with their needs and combating the financial challenges.
In a published article in MARCA, millions of Americans are still about to claim their stimulus check under the Economic Impact Payment. Eligible single filers will receive an amount of $1,400, while couples filing together will receive an amount of $2,800.
Eligibility for the Stimulus Check
Not everyone will receive the remaining stimulus checks in the Economic Impact Payments. Here are some important things that claimants should remember:
- Qualifying couples can receive a maximum stimulus payment of $2,800. However, joint returns for mixed-status families with only one valid identification number – this is defined as the Social Security number used when filing the tax return – only get up to $1,400.
- Joint returns without valid identification numbers for either spouse are excluded.
- Individuals earning up to $80,000 will receive partial payments, but married couples earning more than $160,000 per annum are not eligible for this program.
- Those with dependents will receive $1,400 per person, including college students and seniors claiming as dependents.
Furthermore, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) advised Americans to visit the official website of the agency and track the payment under the “Get My Payment” section.
