A new study suggests that space travelers must prepare for solar storms to stay safe during their journey.
Rare Solar Storms Could Cause Rail Network Glitches
According to BBC, scientists have warned that there is a rare solar system could cause chaos on the UK’s railways by triggering powerful magnetic disturbances.
The scientists have conducted a study at Lancaster University and found the celestial events that could disrupt the network’s systems and cause signals to glitch, switching from red to green. One researcher, Cameron Patterson, stated that the events were relatively rare solar storms and must be taken seriously by the rail industry.

Solar Storms: Peak of Sun May Risk Railways and Other Infrastructure
According to SPACE, there may be risks to railways and other infrastructure when the sun has reached its peak in its 11-year activity cycle, as what currently is happening now. Moreover, Electrical currents on the sun could also twist and snap which would cause particle ejections that travel along Earth’s magnetic lines.
The study focused on the other worldwide jurisdictions that have been greatly impacted by past solar storms. An example includes power outages in some places in Canada in 1989 and 2003.
