Karen Celebertti, who was in charge of Miss Nicaragua, quit on Monday, nine days after being charged by Nicaraguan police with “conspiracy” and other crimes along with her husband and son. Family members are being held. Celebertti first said on X (which used to be Twitter), “The time has come for my retirement,” with hopes for the future.
Sheynnis Palacios was crowned Miss Universe in El Salvador on November 18. This caused a lot of debate, and Nicaragua’s government officially condemned it. Karen Celebertti, a businessman who has worked on the event for 23 years, thought that Palacios’ win was a win for all Nicaraguans, no matter what their political views were.
FOX News reports, say that Celebertti and her daughter Luciana were not allowed to enter Nicaragua on November 22 after going to Mexico to see Palacios’ crowning. Two people were arrested when police went to Celebertti’s flat in southwest Managua. They were her husband, Martín Argüello, and their son, Bernardo. In addition to charging Celebertti’s family with treason, plot, and “organized crime,” the National Police said he took part in “terrorist actions of a failed coup,” which were the 2018 protests.
