The U.S. Department of Labor said that workers in Florida will receive extra money from more than $6.5 million owed to them.

Extra Money for Workers in Florida
The U.S. Department of Labor announced that around 14,000 workers in the state of Florida will receive back pay from companies that violated wage and hour laws. It is estimated that around $6.5 million will be returned to the workers.
In a published article in NBC South Florida, the department said that they have a website that lists the names of companies that had to pay back wages. This ensures that those who resigned from their previous jobs can claim their back pay.

How to Check the Money?
According to a published article in CBS News, workers in Florida can check if they have back pay through the Workers Owed Wages Database and do the following:
- Search for your employer’s business.
- If you find their business then you will enter your name.
- You may need to upload certain documentation.
Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Labor said that they only hold the owed wages for three years before turning the money over to the U.S. Treasury.
