A new stimulus check worth $2,400 will be sent to a group of people in Texas as part of the Teacher Retirement System.
$2,400 Stimulus Check in Texas
The federal government has released three rounds of stimulus checks and millions are hoping for 4th stimulus checks amidst the rising inflation rate. While waiting for this new payment, different states across the country are finding ways to financially support their residents.
In a published article in The Gazette, state officials in Texas said that they will release an amount of $2,400 to the eligible group of persons in the state through the Teacher Retirement System. This benefit will be sent on December 28 and 29 through paper checks and direct deposits respectively.

Increase in Teacher Retirement System
According to the official website of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Texas lawmakers passed the bill that gives an increase between 2 to 6 percent to retired teachers in their monthly pension. The Teacher Reirement System is given monthly to them.
Furthermore, the measure was then placed on the 2023 ballot as Proposition 9, asking voters to approve $3.3 billion from the general revenue fund for the raises. Proposition 9 passed and will affect not only teachers but all retired Texas public education employees.
