Eligible residents and taxpayers in Montana will receive an amount of up to $2,500 at the end of this month, December 2023.
$2,500 Income Tax Rebates
The state of Montana will send an amount of $2,500 in income tax rebates at the end of this month, December 2023. This is for eligible single and married taxpayers in the state who meet the criteria to receive the income tax rebates from the Treasure State.
In a published article in The Washington Examiner, the distribution began in July and will end at the end of this month. The eligible recipients will automatically receive the income tax rebates and there is no need for them to file any additional forms.

Are You Qualified?
According to a published article in the Gazette, the following are the criteria for eligibility:
- A Montana taxpayer must have been a resident for the entire 2021 tax year
- Filed tax returns for 2020 and 2021 on time
- Not be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax forms
- Had a figure greater than zero on line 20 of their 2021 return
Furthermore, single taxpayers will receive an amount of $1,250, while married couples jointly filing together will receive $500. Meanwhile, Gov. Greg Gianforte said, “Montanans overpaid their taxes, and we’re giving it back. I look forward to getting this money back into Montanans’ pockets where it belongs.”
