$100 Increase in SNAP Benefits
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federally funded program that is implemented at the local level. The amount that each eligible recipient receives varies depending on the place or state where they live and their household size.
In a published article in CNY Central, Sen. Rachel May announced on Thursday that she will file legislation that aims to increase the amount of SNAP benefits in the state to $100. She also added that dozens of lawmakers support her legislation and encourage the state governor to support the plan.

Why There is a Need To Increase SNAP Benefits?
According to a published article in BLOGGING BIG BLUE, one of the factors seen why Sen. May will propose an increase in SNAP benefits is due to the rising inflation rate. This means that the normal amount of SNAP could no longer suffice for the needs of American families.
Furthermore, this will mainly help families in Central New York in terms of the following:

Furthermore, the additional $100 in SNAP benefits will help the residents in the state to prevent food insecurity, especially in Central New York which has the highest percentage of SNAP participation in the nation.
