A news report of FOX News, A police officer in Virginia was seriously hurt when two suspects in a knife case opened fire on each other. The suspect was killed. Police in Roanoke found a guy with stab wounds who had been declared dead when they went to check on him on Lawrence Avenue Southeast. Around 4 p.m., police caught up with the known suspect on Melrose Avenue Northwest. When the police arrived, the suspect fired at them, which led to a gunfight in which both the suspect and a police officer were hit. The cop who was hurt is said to be in very bad shape. Investigations are still going on to find out more about what happened.
After the shooting in Virginia, the suspect in the knife case was declared dead, and the police officer who was hurt was taken to the hospital with injuries that were at first thought to be serious and life-threatening. After surgery, however, Police Chief Scott Booth said in a news conference on Sunday night that the cop was still in serious condition but “much better than we initially thought.” The shooting will be looked into by the Virginia State Police, and the cops involved have been put on regular administrative leave. Chief Booth praised the officers’ bravery after watching video from their body cameras that showed how brave they were when they approached the armed suspect. The suspect who died, a white guy 39 years old, has not been named. Booth says that the names of the cops will be made public after their families have been told. The murder on Lawrence Avenue will still be being looked into by the Roanoke police.
