People traveling through, Idaho on Thanksgiving will be in for a treat because gas costs have decreased, saving them money for Christmas shopping. AAA says that the average gas price in Idaho is $3.69 per gallon right now, which is 50 cents less than last year. At $3.28 per gallon, gas prices across the country are also going down. This is a good trend that lowers the cost of holiday travel and gives people extra money for the holidays.
The following table shows the average gas price in Idaho on Thanksgiving Day over the last seven years:
MONTH YEAR IDAHO U.S.
2022 $4.14 $3.59
2021 $3.68 $3.40
2020 $2.30 $2.12
2019 $2.96 $2.59
2018 $2.99 $2.59
2017 $2.66 $2.52
2016 $2.36 $2.13
As the holiday season gets into blast, AAA is giving helpful travel tips to make sure that people’s trips go smoothly and without any stress. This is a list of their professional advice:
Easy to Find Your Way:
Take advantage of the AAA app on your phone to find the cheapest gas stops, the best routes, and even last-minute hotel rooms.
Stay Informed in the Air:
Get the triptik app to get real-time information about your trips and know about any changes as they happen.
Ways to Park Safely:
Choose covered airport parking to keep your car safe from the winter weather. Pick places that are safe and well-lit, and take a quick picture of your parking spot before going into the airport.
Managing your time is important:
Allow extra time in case you get stuck in traffic. Don’t give up during the Christmas rush.
Pack light and smart:
Avoid checking bags as much as possible to save time and trouble. In a handy carry-on bag, only put the things you need, like medicines and important papers.
Before you leave, do three checks:
Before you hit the road or the sky, check your flight status, traffic conditions, and weather reports three times to make sure you don’t run into any problems.
Spread Holiday Joy:
During the holidays, AAA stresses how important it is to be kind. Keep in mind that both workers and other tourists may be under a lot of stress, and a little kindness can go a long way toward making the trip more pleasant.
With these tips in mind, AAA wants to give holiday visitors the tools they need to enjoy the season with trust and ease. Have a safe trip, everyone!
Must-Haves for Winter:
For tough roads in remote areas, bring a shovel that folds up, sand, or cat litter.
Tools for safety – Tools for the job, switch wires, and a first aid kit.
Comfort in Cold Weather – A blanket, warm clothes, and other things you need to stay warm.
Light and visibility – Extra torch batteries, fireworks, and lighters.
The melting of ice and food – Ice-melting liquid and protein snacks with water for people and their pets.
In a new move, AAA is working with Apple to offer emergency road services through Apple’s SOS system. This is especially helpful in places where cell service is weak. Anyone, member or not, can ask for help, but non-members will have to pay for the service.
AAA’s Conde says, “There are still a lot of remote areas in the West where cell phone service can be hard to find.”
AAA also stresses safety at the side of the road, telling cars to slow down and give at least one lane of space to emergency vehicles so that rescuers can work safely. When winter comes, you can’t be sure what will happen, so having a well-stocked survival kit is very important.
“Travel with care, spread joy, and arrive safely during the holidays.”
