According to CBS News, Sandy Smith has urged officials to reopen the Stephen Smith case after the two-week trial of Alex Mardaugh who killed his son and wife.
The trial of Alex Mardaugh was reportedly the turning point for the Stephen Smith case, which the mother was fighting for from fading into obscurity. Sandy Smith even wrote to the officials and high-level politicians.
Stephen Smith Case Reopen with New Evidence
According to Greenville News, Smith’s body was found lying in the middle of Sandy Run Road, a rural area in Hampton County on July 8, 2015. He was found with a fatal blunt force trauma to the head and other secondary injuries.
The Stephen Smith Case is a case that has been left unsolved for almost a decade but reopened due to a piece of newfound evidence which is the mobile phone of the young victim.
The investigators believed that the new evidence could be the key in solving the mysteries of the Stephen Smith case.
