A Spring lady said she was ready to grow her small business after obtaining a $30,000 grant. However, one of her corporate vehicles was repossessed, locking her out of her bank account until the new year.
Locked Bank Account
Natasha Galloway, owner of BB Fly Trucking, stated that she could pay off her truck and purchase a trailer and commercial property to store her equipment. Galloway requested a $30,000 Greater Houston Community Foundation grant for her firm in May. She received the excellent news via email on September 29. “Out of everyone, I won $30,000 funding. That was great, so I was thrilled “Galloway noted. Galloway took the check to her Regions Bank on Oct. 25. She pulled out a few hundred dollars that day and was assured the rest would be accessible on Nov. 3. That day, she was told the cheque was suspicious and the bank would spend three months investigating and freezing the business account. The bank did not release her money.
The Greater Houston Community Foundation confirmed Galloway’s recipient status. On Nov. 6, the nonprofit confirmed with Regions Bank that the cheque was authentic, but Galloway said she couldn’t access the funds. She asked, ‘Why are you freezing my bank account? They replied, ‘It’s because of this check—it’s suspicious,” Galloway said. She intended to use $10,000 from that check to pay off her third 18-wheeler, but it was repossessed and is being auctioned. Region Bank tells ABC13 they cannot reveal client banking information and are investigating.
